REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Political observer of Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Siti Zuhro said that referring electoral dispute to Constitutional Court (MK) was a positive measure. She stressed that MK must solve the dispute to avoid any public distrust towards the election results.

"The problem must be solve, other wise we could face a tragedy here or we would face the similar situation as in 2009.

She believes that resolving the dispute to strengthen the legitimation of the election results.

General Elections Commission (KPU) declared on July 22 that Joko Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla won the presidential election over Prabowo and Hatta Rajasa. The later then filed their lawsuit of allegedly electoral frauds.

Zuhro expects all supporters of both presidential pairs to accept the MK's decision over their lawsuits.
