KPU Riau to reject Prabowo-Hatta's lawsuit

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- The General Election Commission (KPU) in Riau will reject lawsuit filed by Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa to Constitutional Court on 2014 presidential election. Earlier, Prabowo-Hatta reported some violations occurring in Riau. 

"We are astonished when Riau is also among the list," KPU Commissioner, Ilham M Yasir said, referring to complaints on presidential election in the province. "We will file our objection in the first trial."

According to him, Riau was not on the list of 11 provinces where violations allegedly occurred. Later Prabowo-Hatta filed their lawsuits complaining that violation during the presidential election occurring in 33 provinces in Indonesia, including Riau.

Among others, Prabowo-Hatta complained that the number of people using their vote rights was not consistent with the ballot paper in 937 ballot booths. 

The 2014 presidential election was contested by two pairs of candidates, Prabowo-Hatta and Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo-Jusuf Kalla. KPU declared Jokowi and Kalla winning the contest with 53 percent of votes.
