France: Indonesia's elections show vitality of the country's democracy

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - France congratulated the president-elect Joko Widodo and his pair, Jusuf Kalla. In a daily press statement in Paris on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that strenghtening partnership with Indonesia was one of France’s diplomatic priorities.

"France congratulates Joko Widodo on his election as President of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as Jusuf Kalla who was elected Vice President. Following the parliamentary elections in April, this election reflects the vitality of Indonesian democracy," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesperson, Romain Nadal, said in a written statement sent by French Embassy in Jakarta to Republika on Thursday.

"The strengthening of our strategic partnership with Indonesia, which is a member of the G20 and a key international player, is one of France’s diplomatic priorities," he added.
