Air travels increase 8.1 percent during homebound season

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Movement of aircrafts during homebound season in 2013 rose 8.1 percent over same period in the last year. Minister of Transportation, EE Mangindaan said the increase was based on a comparison of aircraft transportation data to the last year.

"In 2012, there were 17,717 air travels with average of 910 air travels per day. In 2013, about 19,154 air travels with the aveage of 1,015 air travels every day," Mangindaan said.

Based on aircraft passenger data, number of aircraft passengers in 2012 reached 2,553,376 passengers with 122,173 daily passengers on average. In 2013, the number of ait travel passengers is predicted to reach 2,824,346 people with an average of 142,639 passengers per day.

Mangindaan said that based on monitoring of air transportion, the peak season of Eid passengers at Soekarno-Hatta airpot in 2012 was occured two days before and after Eid al-Fitr on August 8. It is similar to condition in 2013. The air travel passengers is predicted to increase 10.6 percent until the end of this year.
