PNG will investigate the shooting an Indonesian

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA - Indonesia consulate in Vanimo, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Jahar Gultom said PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) would investigate the shooting incident of a visiting Indonesian in PNG. The incident occured on Wednesday in Sandaun Province, PNG, when three Indonesians from Jayapura visiting the village to meet their families.

While they were in the waters near the villages, suddenly five PNG soldiers came to them then they were shot three times until the bullet hit Edward Aritahanu's legs. The victim is still being treated in Dok Dua hospitals in Jayapura. 

"From information gathered from the meeting, the shooting occured because Indonesian citizens trying to escape when PNG army asked information about the goods they carry," Gultom said on Sunday. But the shooting target was the motorboat to prevent them to escape," he said.
