REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations must obtain operational permit from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, as cited in the bill on Public Organization.
A Member of Commission I at the House of Representatives from Nation's Awakening Party (PKB) Faction, Abdul Malik Haramain, said the NGOs must meet several requirements, such as coming from countries that had diplomatic relationship with Indonesia, having principle, target, and activity that fit Indonesian laws and cooperating with Indonesian NGOs.
"The permit is renewed every three years," he said on Sunday.
Every NGO also must announce the source, the amount, and the usage of the funds, including publishing a report through national or local mass media. The organization is restricted to conduct espionage and practical politics, interfere diplomatic relationship, use government's facility, and raise funds from Indonesian government and citizen.
Principally, he said, all factions in the House agreed on the regulation. Before obtaining the permit, the organization must firstly obtain permit from clearing house composed of representative from Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
