REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia's unemployment rate this year declined from 7.45 of last year to 6.4, Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Muhaimin Iskandar claimed on Sunday. Major reason is better condition of Indonesian economy. He said that the conducive economy attracted many investments and hence, it created many jobs
Another reason is the improvement of workers’ welfare. Iskandar claimed, there were some improvements in minimum wage for labors and workers.
According to Indonesian Statistics Agency, the number of employment on February 2012 reaches 120.4 million people or increases 3 million people from August 2011. Indonesia's open unemployment rate (TPT) on February 2012 reaches 6.32 percent. It declines in around 6.56 percent from August 2011 and 6.80 percent from February 2011.
