SBY invites Australians to invest in MP3EI scheme

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DARWIN - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) invites the members of Australia Indonesia Business Council (AIBC) to enhance the cooperation between Australia and Indonesia. One of opportunities is investment in infrastructure through the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia's Economic Development (MP3EI).

"I will share my thoughts to reach the goal," SBY said in AIBC luncheon on Tuesday in Darwin, Australia.

He said he would firstly invite Australian businessman to take the advantage of MP3EI. He gave the example that last May Indonesia became a host of the CEO from Australia New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ Group). ANZ commits to invest in infrastructure and agriculture sectors in Indonesia.

"I hope other Australian companies will enhance their presence in Indonesia," he said.

He also said that Indonesia's geography, demographics, political stability, economic strength, and competitive labors could help the investors. He added, with the population was around 240 million people and 40 million of them were middle class Indonesia was a good business area for the future. Besides, it takes only two to three hours flight from Australia to Indonesia.

"You will have the big and prosperous East Asian market," he said.
