REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The police continued investigating an attack on former Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf, National Police Chief Gen Timur Pradopo said on Tuesday. "After the inauguration ceremony of new Aceh governor, Zaini Abdullah, and deputy governor Muzakir Manaf, on Monday, there was violence against Irwandi, therefore, the police will investigate it," Timur Pradopo said after attending a brief meeting chaired by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, upon his arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma airport on Tuesday morning. 

Timur said the National Police Headquarters had sent back-up personnel to help Aceh police investigate the case.

Earlier on Monday, after attending the inauguration ceremony of Zaini Abdullah and Muzakir Manaf, Irwandi Yusuf was attacked by a group of people. The former Aceh governor sustained bruises on his left eye and was rushed to the Zainoel Abidin (RSUZA) general hospital for treatment.
