REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The former of Jakarta Governor, Sutiyoso, expects the next candidates of governor to fix the transportation in Jakarta. "The transportation in Jakarta should be representative, otherwise it leads to traffic jam," Sutiyoso said on Friday after attending a debate of the candidates for Jakarta’s governor.
The Provincial Government of Jakarta, he said, should provide a comfort, safe, on time, and affordable transportation. "The building of new roads is needed, but it should be prioritized in public transportation," he said.
With adequate transportation, the usage of fuel will be decreased while people choose to use public transportation. "The pollution will be definitely decreased," he added.
He also advised the candidates to continue the available blue print and the building of Transjakarta up to 15 corridors. The monorail project is also urged to be continued. "Monorail will connect economic center, trade, and offices," he said.
