REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice Governor of Jakarta Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated that the provincial administration will create 50 thousand to 60 thousand new jobs in the property sector. "Our target is 50 thousand to 60 thousand new adequate jobs in the property sector in Jakarta," Uno noted here on Thursday.

Currently, the administration is finalizing the concepts of the housing construction project and coordinating with the Financial Services Authority and Bank of Indonesia. "We do not want to violate the rules. We are now in the finalization phase," he remarked.

"Physically, the groundbreaking of the housing construction project has been conducted with zero down payment in Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta, on Thursday (Jan 18). Once the scheme is ready, we will immediately launch the project," Uno pointed out.

The vice governor welcomed the initiative taken by Real Estate Indonesia (REI) to put forth recommendations for preparing the Jakarta housing development blueprint. "We will also invite REI Jakarta to play an active role in preparing the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan," Uno emphasized.

According to Uno, Jakarta's residents need decent housing located not far from their workplaces, with adequate access to transportation facilities. These houses will be built based on the concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). "Hence, in future, there will be TOD. We will encourage the entrepreneurs," Uno stated.

Incentives in the form of TOD are formulated. "In future, hopefully, incentives would be offered to entrepreneurs," Uno added.
