REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta's deputy governor Sandiaga Uno hailed cooperation plan to be done with Saudi Arabia in the field of waste processing.

He made the statement after receiving one of Saudi investors operating in the field of energy at the City Hall.

"We have received a Saudi investor. According to plans they wish to cooperate with the Jakarta provincial administration especially in the field of waste processing," he said.

He said the Saudi investor planned to invest US$300 to US$400 million to process garbage into energy.

"If the plan is realized waste in Jakarta will be processed and changed to be renewable energy source," he said.

He said waste problem in Jakarta needed extra management and therefore he welcomed the cooperation plan.

The deputy governor hoped the cooperation plan would open employment for the people.

"The investor has expressed wish to create jobs for 1,000 to 1,500 people during construction and 400 to 600 for the operation," he said.
