REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- As the host of the 2018 Asian Para Games, Jakarta should become a disabled-friendly city, according to Jakarta's Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno.

"Jakarta must be friendly to the disabled. Our facilities, infrastructure, and the venue of the Asian Para Games will be audited. I will ensure that the budget is available," Uno noted here recently while attending the Asian Para Games 2018 Photo Challenge comprising a photo expo and workshop held at the Arts and Ceramic Museum in Jakarta's old city.

He lauded the Photo Challenge for promoting the Asian Para Games and encouraging the capital city to become more friendly to people with disabilities.

Some four thousand athletes with disabilities will participate in the Asian Para Games to be held on October 6-13, 2018.

"We should be more in favor of our disabled friends. We will be involved and present at the Asian Para Games 2018. We are the host and will be serious. We will ensure that Indonesia and Jakarta will be proud of it," he stated.

The Asian Para Games will be organized following the implementation of the 18th Asian Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, from August 18 to September 2.
