Four days before being inaugurated as Jakarta governor (October 13), Anies Baswedan received a book titled The Cities Book as gift from Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) urged the new Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan and deputy governor Sandiaga Uno to continue the programs to manage traffic jams and floods. He assessed it was the main problem of the city and became the concerns of many people.

"I have told Anies that the main problem of Jakarta are traffic jams and floods, so he and his deputy must continue the program to handle it, and of course the central government will help," JK said on Tuesday (October 17).

He argued Jakarta as special capital region also presented the central government. JK assessed this city became an Indonesia storefront, so it must be managed well.

Previously, JK gave the book entitled The Cities Book to Anies. The book is about 100 best cities in the world. On October 13, JK signed the book and dedicated it to Anies.

"I bought a book and gave it to Anies. It is about 100 best cities in the world, such as Yogyakarta and Bangkok. So, I hope Jakarta will also listed in such book," he added.

Meanwhile, JK also commented about "pribumi" diction in Anies's first speech after being inaugurated as Jakarta Governor on Monday (16/110). He believed it was in historical context and not discriminatory.

"His speech is about colonialism, the context is history, so do not just cut one word in what context Anies speech to make it seems like discriminative," JK said.
