REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta police shot dead SFL, who was believed to have killed 31-year-old Davidson Tantono during a daylight robbery in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta, recently.

"SFL, as head of the gang, has acted as the executor (in the robbery). We shot him because he defied arrest," Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono noted here on Tuesday.

Apart from SFL, the police have also arrested a woman identified by her initials as RCL and NFR in Banuwangi, East Java, on Monday evening, Yuwono remarked.

He said SFL had tried to snatch a gun from a police officer, and so, he was shot dead.

He explained that SFL had acted as the executor in the robbery, while RCL had provided a hiding place for the suspects, and NFR had prevented the chase.

The police had earlier arrested four other suspects in the case: IR who was shot dead, TP, M, and DTK who are believed to be part of a 10-member gang that had been involved in the robbery.

Yuwono said the gang had, so far, operated 23 times in Jakarta, Tangerang, Cirebon, and Bekasi in West Java.

Davidson, the father of a young child, was shot dead after he withdrew Rp350 million from a bank.

The robbers, who had followed the victim after he left the bank, fled with the money that the victim would have used to pay the employees of his cooperative.
