REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Acting governor of Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat is scheduled to be inaugurated as a governor on June 15, the director general of regional autonomy of the ministry of home affairs, Sumarsono, said here on Friday.
"He will be inaugurated on Thursday, June 15. It may be in the morning or in the afternoon," he told newsmen.
He said it would be President Joko Widodo who would induct Djarot as a definitive governor of Jakarta.
"The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the state palace. Later Djarot will be Jakarta governor for four months until October 15, 2017," he said.
Sumarsono said he had received the recommendation letter from the Jakarta legislative assembly regarding Djarot's installation as Jakarta governor since Friday (May 2).
Djarot will replace Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok who resigned on May 23 after he dropped his appeal after being sentenced by the district court to two years in jail for blaspheming Islam.
