REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Jakarta Metro Police launches Food Stabilization Movement for its area on Thursday (June 8). It was aimed at keeping the stability of basic needs price before Eid.
“We had come to the middle of Ramadan, soon to Eid. Societies must need basic needs. We keep the prices affordable and the stock available,” said Jakarta Metro Police Chief Mochamad Iriawan at his office at Thursday (June 8).
Iriawan explained that special team would hold food bazaar for 10 days. It would be started today on Thursday (June 8-17) at traditional markets, public places, and around police offices.
Director General of Domestic Trades Tjahja Widiyanti said it was a good movement to help the government in pressing the food prices and to anticipate food scarcity among societies. It was in accordance to the president’s instruction to prevent food scarcity during Ramadan and Eid.
“Keep the supplies, stabilize or decrease the prices, absorb the domestic products,” said Tjahja.
He said to send personnel to monitor daily needs distribution to markets as Trade Ministry predicted that there would be a bump ahead to Eid. They would be sent to the cities with high inflation to stabilize the prices.
Regional Secretary of Jakarta Eep Saefullah said Jakarta City Government was ready to support this program. PD Pasar Jaya and Food Station were also ready to cooperate on this. The government and the police committed to take action to anyone who pile up the daily needs.
“I warn you not to play with food stock with piling it up. It harms the society. Take the suitable profit. Food pile up was a crime. We can take the distribution license,” said Iriawan.
