REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta House of Representatives (DPRD DKI Jakarta) and its governor conducted a meeting to decide some locations to be evicted. The government targeted riverbank areas and illegal buildings.

A member of Commission D of DPRD DKI Jakarta, Bestari Barus, said he could not mention the exact location. "We still have a meeting to decide the location and to plan the development," said him to Republika.co.id on Wednesday (April 26).

During the rest of his services until October, Jakarta governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) insisted to keep on evicting the houses around the riverbank areas. It was a part of rivers normalization program conducted along his services.

According to Ahok, the evicted people would never be displaced. He said they would got better living in the flats provided by the Jakarta government.

Bestari explained that the eviction program was a good will of the government to give better life quality to people in Jakarta. "Many people's and illegal houses in the riverbanks area.  We would normalize the function of the rivers. But we would discuss the location," said Bestari.
