Two million participants of 212 rally from other provinces arrive at Jakarta

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Movement to Guard the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) stated 2 million participants of 212 rally from other provinces have entered Jakarta on Thursday (12/1) night. The number is expected to rise within hours. "But, there are participants from several region that did not have a smooth journey to Jakarta," Treasurer of the GNPF M Luthfie Hakim said to the reporters on Thursday.

The mass arrived at Jakarta since Thursday afternoon. They were split to several mosques across Jakarta, including Istiqlal Mosque. Jakarta residents gave them warm welcome with foods and accomodations. 

Meanwhile, on Thursday night, technical team has finished 90 percent of the preparation needed for 212 rally. Main stage, water supply for ablution, toilets, sound system, and kitchen is on set. "We hoped by midnight, it would all be finished," Luthfie said.

Previously, field coordinator of 212 rally, Anggi Meiga, remind all communities joining the rally to bring handy talky (HT). It will be used to communicate with committee of 212 peaceful rally. "In case the cellular signal is off or the cellphone battery is low, we are still able to communicate with HT so please tune the frequency in accordance with the GNPF," he said to Republika.co.id on Thursday.

Anggi reminded the community who is in charge to guard the park to bring loud speaker so they would not get easily exhausted for shouting. He also sugessted the community to add its member to guard certain points in the park. "Every community should have their own internal technical working guidance and coordinate," he asked.
