REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Financial Services Authority (OJK) planned to hold International Conference on Islamic Finance. The conference would be attended by Islamic Development Bank (IBD), World Bank Group, and Swiss Confederation State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

This international conference would be held in Jakarta on 12th -13th November 2015 with the theme 'Infrastructure Financing: The Unleashed Potential of Islamic Finance'. The theme of this event was in line with government programs that prioritized infrastructure development.

Islamic financial was believed to still be explored more for infrastructure development. This conference would be directed to discuss the potential for government and private sector in meeting financing needs of infrastructure through Islamic financial sector, both Islamic banking, Islamic capital markets and Islamic non-bank financial industry.

''From this conference we hope there will be potential that is greater than Islamic financial products in financing of large and small-scale infrastructure, '' said International Director of OJK, Triyono, in a press statement to Republika, Wednesday (11/11).

Some of the issues to be discussed in this conference included capacity building of Islamic banking to finance infrastructure projects and unlock the potential of Islamic capital market as an instrument for financing infrastructure.

Another related issue was the focus of challenge and risk management in infrastructure financing from Islamic financial for small-scale infrastructure  projects.
