Ministry suspends license of Aviastar Airlines

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Business License for Scheduled Commercial Air Transport of Aviastar Mandiri Airline was suspended. It was because the airline did not qualify aircraft ownership in accordance with Regulation of Minister of Transportation No. 97 of 2015 about the instructions of Implementation of Aircraft Ownership and Control.

"Business License for Scheduled Commercial Air Transport of PT Aviastar Mandiri is suspended because they do not qualify aircraft ownership in accordance with the regulations," said Director General of Air Transportation of Ministry of Transportation, Suprasetyo, during a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/10) night.

Suprasetyo said, Aviastar has two licenses, namely SIUAU scheduled and non-scheduled. Based on Regulation of Minister of Transportation, an airline which operate scheduled aircraft should own five aircraft and five rented aircraft. While, an airline which operate non-scheduled aircraft should own one aircraft and two rented aircraft.

"Aviastar airline has only nine aircraft and one rented aircraft for all permits both scheduled and non-scheduled," he added.

Earlier, Ministry of Transportation stated there were six scheduled commercial air transport that were suspended its licenses, namely Tri MG Intra Asia Airlines, Asco Nusa Air, Air Maleo, Manunggal Air Service, Nusantara Buana Air and Jatayu Air.
