REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The decrease of fuel price was considered to be able to boost economic growth in Indonesia. It could have a direct impact on improving people's purchasing power.

"Increase in people's purchasing power have an impact on national consumption, which can lead to economic growth," said a member of Commission VII of House of Representatives, Kurtubi, Tuesday (6/10).

Currently, the national economy was weakening. In the second quarter of 2015, the economic growth was quite low, even arguably as the lowest growth for 10 years.

There were many factors that make the country's economic weakened, for example from the exchange rate of rupiah. However, Indonesia was likely to be able to boost national economic growth since the world oil prices were relatively cheap.

"World crude oil prices were currently only about 50 US dollars per barrel from 120 US dollars per barrel," he added.

He said, the decrease of fuel prices could be directly perceived. Charges for goods and services would also decrease.
