REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Communications and Information Technology approved acquisition permission of PT AXIS Telekom Indonesia by PT XL Axiata. The approval is contained in letter No. 1147/2013 issued on November 29, 2013.

"This acquisition approval is a positive step for us to develop our business," Director of XL Axiata, Hasnul Suhaimi said on Monday.

XL will obey rules, including a requirement to return the frequency spectrum. Ministry requires XL to restore spectrum of 10 Megahertz (MHz) at frequency of 2,100.

XL previously hopes to cut number of frequencies that are returned. However, company accepts the decision peacefully. Suhaimi believed that this decision will provide optimal benefits to strengthen company's business forward.

AXIS has total spectrum of 15 MHz in frequency of 1,800. The whole spectrum is given to XL, which will be used to advance telecommunication industry. Suhaimi hopes that regulatory approval of merger will overcome resource constraints faced by company today.

XL expected that this acquisition can give additional capacity to provide benefits to stakeholders. XL is committed to support government programs in realizing national broadbrand plan while improving quality of customer services and maximize 2G and 3G networks. With this acquisition, XL and AXIS obtain telecommunication services with better quality and wide coverage.

XL will complete all transaction acquisition and merger according to rules. Company will hold a general meeting of shareholders in near future.
