President, Ministers Discuss Foods Security in Bukittinggi

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BUKITTINGGI -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and several ministers discussed food security during their working visit to the West Sumatra provincial city of Bukittinggi on Monday.

"The theme of tonight's discussion is developing an action plan to boost food production, especially five commodities such as rice, soybeans, sugar, beef and corn, which are expected to reach self-sufficiency," said presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha.

According to Julian, the discussion began at 8.00 p.m. at Bukittinggi Bung Hatta Palace and was attended by Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Djoko Suyanto, State Secretary Minister Sudi Silalahi and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam.

During the four-day working visit in West Sumatra province, the president was accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono.
