UAE could be the entrance for Indonesian product in the region

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DUBAI - United Arab Emirates (UAE) was potential to be the entrance of Indonesian export to Middle East countries, namely Oman, Qatar, Iran and Pakistan, Indonesian Vice Minister of Trade Bayu Krisnamurthi said.

"UAE can become distribution center of Indonesian products to be exported to neighbouring countries," he said on Wednesday at Business Forum in Dubai.

The Business Forum is a part of the Trade Mission of Indonesian Ministry of Trade to Middle East. Amid the financial crisis in US and several European countries, Indonesia expands its export market to the Middle East.

According to the data in the Ministry of Trade, the total value of Indonesian trade to UAE until August 2012 is around 2.15 billion USD. It increase 19.04 percent compared to similar period in 2011. The export of Indonesia to UAE is 1.08 billion USD, while the import is 1.06 billion USD.

Indonesia currently exports several commodities such as processed food, furniture, vegetable oil, textile and garment, and spare parts.
