Indonesia-Australia eyes close cooperation in automotive sector

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Federation of Automotive Products Manufacturers (FAPM) visited Jakarta on Monday. According to a press release from Australian Embassy in Jakarta, the Australia’s first-ever delegation of automotive parts manufactures recognize there are significant possibilities for expanding trade between Australia and Indonesia in the auto sector. 

The delegation acknowledges the growing importance of Indonesia as a market and supplier in the region for sophisticated automotive products. Indonesia has grown as a significant producer and consumer of sophisticated automotive products within the global automotive industry.

"I am pleased to lead this automotive delegation, which I see as an important step towards closer collaboration between our respective automotive sectors,” says John Conomos, Australia’s Automotive Industry Envoy.

“There are considerable opportunities for our respective industries to enhance cooperation based on complementary strengths,” he said.

 Australia–Indonesia Automotive Conference key representatives from the Indonesian based automotive industry joined Australian counterparts to share information on industry trends and development and explore areas of potential commercial opportunity. 

CEO of FAPM, Richard Reilly notes that “FAPM is keen to establish closer relationships with our Indonesian counterparts at GIAMM and will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Conference to lay the foundation for closer strategic relations between our industries.”
