Japanese animators to invest 2 million USD in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Several Japanese animators visiting Indonesian Creative Product Week (PPKI) are ready to invest in Indonesia. "We have prepared two million USD to make semi-animated movie in Indonesia," Director Head of Nikkatsu Studio, Keizo Yuri, said on Saturday.

Yuri said the atmosphere of movie and animation production in Indonesia was quite promising. He believes that Indonesia and Japan can work together to develop animation and movie industries.

Vice President International Business Development Aniplex Jepang, Hiroshi Sasaki, said that he sought movie and animation market in Indonesia. "Indonesia has many bookstores. It reflects the big opportunity in Indonesia," he said.

Director of the Development of Creative Economy at the Ministry of Tourism an Creative Economy, Armein Firmansyah, said government tried to boost the development of animation industry.
