REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – As part of International Education Week, EducationUSA is hosting a 24-hour online Virtual College Fair on November 13 at www.educationusa.or.id, which will allow potential students access to more than 150 U.S. institutions. It was the perfect time to consider studying in the US, the US ambassador Scot Marciel said on Tuesday. 

“I want to invite all Indonesian students to consider taking advantage of the incredible opportunities we have for you to study in the United States,” he said in a statement send to Republika.

“To make the process easier, we have free education advising services through Education USA available for you across the country,” he added. “We have also streamlined our visa process to make it easier for you. In fact, over 95 percent of all Indonesian student visa applicants qualify for a visa and most receive it within three days.” 

In observing International Education Week, the US embassy has the unique opportunity to celebrate the many benefits of a U.S. education. “The United States has the most prestigious, top-ranked schools in the world and is known for the quality of its facilities, faculties, and programs. Graduates earn a degree that is recognized and respected worldwide,” the ambassador explained. 

The number of international students studying in the United States has never been higher. Last year, over 723,000 students from all over of the world studied in the U.S., with 23 percent coming from Asia.  

Speaking about the environment, the ambassador said, “University communities are known to be tolerant and diverse, providing the opportunity to be supported by those with similar backgrounds and learn from those with differing experiences.”

This will be the largest online international college fair ever conducted and will provide informative webcast sessions, as well as live-chat conversations with admissions officers.  “We hope that this innovative opportunity allows Indonesians greater exposure to America’s higher education system as we celebrate our shared commitment to educating tomorrow’s leaders,” Marciel concluded.
