REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian government agrees to print graphic warnings on each cigarette package. The dimension is 40 percent of each side, the Coordinating Minister of People's Welfare, Agung Laksono, said.

Government will also issue the regulation on the marketing and promotion of cigarette. The maximum dimension of outdoor cigarette advertisement is 72 meter square or 6 meter x 12 meter.

Minister Laksono said on Monday that the bill prevented people from the negative impacts of addictive substances. "Government gives one to two years of transition until the bill is implemented, providing every party especially cigarette manufacture a time to adjust themselves to the new regulation," he said.

Despite having disagreement on the dimension of the graphic warnings, the Vice Minister of Health, Ali Ghufron Mukti, agreed on the bill. The bill will be socialized to people and every stakeholder of cigarette industry.
