REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Google asks Indonesian National Board Management (BNPB) to cooperate on dissemination of disaster info globally. Disaster data from BNPB will be published globally using a product of Google.org, Google Crisis Response, which provides some tools such as Google Public Alert, Google Crisis Maps dan Google Person Finder.

"Google main office in California has been watching the BNPB's development of geospatial information for quite a long time," the Head of Information Center and Public Relations of BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, said on Thursday in press release.

BNPB has shown responsive and up to date information of disaster, such as the earthquake that hit Aceh on 11 April 2012.

"Merryl Stone, the Program Manager Google, and team of Google California are interested to visit BNPB," he said.

According the their plan, Google will provide a license of Google Earth Pro to BNPB, while BNPB will share its data to Google. Then, Google will launch it to the world. Google will also present the impact of the latest earthquake in the web. Other alerts, such as flood, tsunami, and volcano, will also be shown.
