REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Some foreign investors are interested to get involved in Sunda Strait Bridge project. Among others are several Japanese companies united in JJC Corporation consortium.

The companies, such as Nippon Steel and Nippon Koi, met the initiator of Sunda Strait Bridge, Graha Banten Lampung Sejahtera, on Wednesday in Jakarta. "They are united in JJC Corporation consortium. They have one proposal," the President Director of Graha Banten Lampung Sejahtera, Agung R Prabowo, said.

The assessment of the cooperation was started as Japanese government’s willingness to review the project. Some officials of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) came to discuss on the project.

Besides Japan, Prabowo said, Exim Bank from US was also interested to pour long-term financing for products and services used in the project.

Other countries, like South Korea and China, also eye on the financing of the bridge. China's government was even one step ahead by discussing the project with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on March.

This megaproject, Prabowo said, needed advanced technology and big finance. Yet, he declines to mention the value of the project.
