REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Since gas scarcity probably affects the investors' interest in Indonesia, hence a fair policy in industry is needed, according to an official at the Ministry of Industry. “Without good management, similar problems will always occur," the Director General of Manufacture Industry in the Ministry of Industry, Panggah Susanto, said on Friday.

The chaos over gas price for industry, he said, brought some problems for the entrepreneurs, transporters, State Gas Company (PGN), and upstream sector. This uncertainty potentially affects the investment because the gas supply is one of investors’ concerns.

"It is a disaster that the industry gas price can soar up to 50 percent. We should find the right mechanism," he said.

He said the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources should impose monopoly system or free trade to prevent such incident reoccur. He added, gas supply was a main supporting factor for the growth of industry. "We hope PGN (state gas company –Ed) can supply the gas for industry based on the contract," he said.
