REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Started from Saturday, Jakarta presents an art exhibition entitled "Zeitgeist". Zeitgeist, a German expression which means the spirit of time, marks the intellectual and cultural climates of an era. It exhibits the collections of two art collectors, Wiyu Wahono and Indra Leonardi.
"The exhibition contains the spirit of era of people in the world," Wihu Wiyono said on Saturday in Kunstkring Art Gallery in Teuku Umar Street, Jakarta.
He said every art piece should have Zeitgeist, reflected the challenge of time. For those who do not know much about art, the exhibiting pieces might be confusing. The explanation is also not provided.
He uses the theme because German art piece is hardly predicted in philosophy. "On 2022, people will look back and understand," he said.
Other works of 24 artists, such as Agan Harahap, Agus Suwage, Agustinus Kuswidananti, Amalia Artika, Angki Purbandono, Ay Tjoe Christine, Entang Wiharso, Erik Pauhrizi, Melati Suryodarmo, Febie Babyrose, Radi Arwinda, and Yusuf Ismail, are also presented here.
The exhibition is open for public to Tuesday (15/5). It also marks the re-opening of Bataviasche Kunstkring Art Gallery.
