REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Some representatives of foreign companies attending International Auto parts, Accessories and equip (INAPA) 2012 are interested to cooperate with PT Solo Manufaktur Kreasi (SMK), the producer of Esemka, the student car.
"I'm seeking cooperation with Indonesian automotive company," the Assistant Manager of Development Team from Hantec Technology, Simon Lee said, recently.
Lee explained that his company was planned to build a machine component manufacture in Southeast Asia, and Indonesia was one of the countries with prospective automotive market.
Esemka and other Indonesian made cars, Lee said, could be developed like Hyundai or KIA from South Korea, a country where his company came from. SMK Director, Sulistyo Rabono, said Australian control system design company had also offered some cooperation. "It is possible to cooperate with foreign company, but it is only for the components not produced in Indonesia," he said.
He added, SMK had a commitment to produce national car with national Small Medium Enterprises (SME) as the main cooperation partner. "If we do not have cooperation with national SME, then we cannot say this is Indonesian made car,” Sulistyo said.
