Awww… Leech to treat acne prone

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU – Hundreds of people suffering acne undergoes leech therapy in one of the clinics in Pekanbaru, Riau. “I have done four times of leech therapy here. I hope the acne in my face is gone,” Nur Asyiah (28 years) said in traditional clinic owned by Slamet Riyadi in Jalan Hangtuah, Pekanbaru, Riau.

She said, most of the patients hope this alternative treatment can be a solution to eliminate the acne. Before knowing ‘Pak De’ (Slamet Riyadi’s nick name), she was confused to find the solution. “After the therapy, my acne is gradually gone,” she said.

Asyiah is one of hundreds patients in Pak De’s clinic. Each day, many patients come to his clinic. Some of them even suffer cancer. “The patients suffering acne are treated three or five times. In a week, there are hundreds of them,” Pak De said.

On each therapy, the patients need two or three leeches. The leeches are put right on the acne spot. “The leech sucks the dirty blood that causes acnes. The healing needs process. It cannot be done only once,” he said. His clinic is open every day.
