REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Nadhlatul Ulama (NU) appreciated State Administrative Court (PTUN) decision to reject lawsuit that filed by former Muslim group Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). NU then invited former HTI members or affiliated with the group to join with other mass organizations.

Let's join NU and make peaceful and tolerant Islamic da'wah in the framework of Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) and Pancasila, said Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) general secretary, Helmy Faishal Zaini on Tuesday (May 8).

Helmy said NU is consistent to support the government in its fight against all forms or actions and also associations against Pancasila. He stressed all the forms and efforts that conflict with the ideology of Pancasila should be dealt firmly.

All the forms and efforts that aim to to replace Pancasila as the foundation of the state, will continue our concerns and opponents, Helmy explained.

Earlier, PTUN decided to reject lawsuit that filed by HTI that was disband by the government. Therefore, decision letter from Ministry of Law and Human Rights No AHU-30.AHA.01.08.2017 on revocation of HTI legal entity status remains valid.

The government believed HTI contravenes the Pancasila state ideology as it promotes the Islamic caliphate (Islamic state). By issuing Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 2/2017, the government gave the authority to the Law and Human Rights Ministry to disband all mass organizations regarded as contravening Pancasila without due process of law.

Furthermore, PBNU considered the Perppu is very important in Indonesia. It can ward off movements or seeds toward terrorism, radicalism, or mass organizations that are proven to conflict with the ideology of the state or Pancasila.
