600 Betawi warriors guard religious leaders house

Betawi warriors find a strange marks at religious leader house and mosque.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Betawi warriors (jawara) commander, Basyir Bustomi said about 600 jawara will guard religious leaders house, especially the preachers' and clerics' house. He also asked preparedness from the jawara to anticipate intimidation and violence as often occured recently.

"We have alerted 600 jawara from 125 Betawi martial arts clubs. Alhamdulillah (thank God) it has been going on and they are guarding preachers' and clerics' houses," said Basyir on Wednesday (Feb 21).

At least one preacher or cleric house will be guarded by 10 jawara from martial arts clubs of Perguruan Maen Pukul Betawi. In addition, to maintain security, Bustomi said they also cooperated with local residents.

"We will guard in Jabodetabek areas, especially since some mosques and cleric's residences were being marked by unidentified party," Bustomi added.

A series of attack against religious leader figures was followed by incident of marking on some mosques and cleric's houses in Jakarta and surrounding areas. A strange mark were found in two different location in Bekasi, namely at the wall of Habib Alwi bin Muhammad house and at the left pole of At Taqwa Babelan mosque.

However, there has been no physical threat following the marking. The meaning of those mark also has not been known. "We hope there is no party who try to disrupt security and threat the clerics and preachers in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi areas," Basyir said.
