REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan met with one of prominent clerics from Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Muhammad bin Islamil Zain Al Yamani on Monday (January 22) at City Hall. Anies said he feel honored to welcome the guest.
"He (Sheikh Muhammad) leds an Islamic boarding school in Mecca, which many Indonesian students study there," said Anies.
Anies admitted he and Sheikh Muhammad were talking about the importance of building character of the nation. They also ensured each other that there is a true and good understanding of Islam in Indonesia and other countries in the world. "We are talking about the importance of build nation character, in order to ensure Indonesia and other places in the world there is true and good understanding of Islam," Anies explained.
Sheikh Muhammad has travelled Indonesia regularly. His visit is expected to strengthen relationship between Indonesia and many clerics in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile Sheikh Muhammad said he really feel flattered and honored in his visit this time. He glad that could meet with the Indonesia capital leaders. "I express my gratitude for this invitation to meet with Jakarta Governor and the Deputy. Once we ever met in Mecca when hajj which it was very full of warmth and fraternity," Sheikh Muhammad said.
Furthermore, Sheikh Muhammad said he often heard Indonesia is the country where the education continues to be developed. He also saw many educational institutions which continue to grow.
"It's an indicator that signifies goodness because every nation wants to offer the best always and it will continue to improve in terms of economy and many sectors," Sheikh Muhammad added.
