REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – Hundreds of Muhammadiyah merchants gathered in Bandung, West Java, in order to attended the National Working Meeting of Economic and Corporate Council (Rakernas MEK) and National Hospitality of Muhammadiyah Merchants Network (Silkanas JSM). This event was held for the third time.

Chairman of Steering Committee of MEK Congress Indra Nur Fauzi said around 500 participants from all over Indonesia consist of board of Muhammadiyah economic and merchant council attended this event. “This Silaknas we held to bring together all entrepreneurs, both small and medium enterprises. This is part of our da’wah in the economic field,” he said, Wednesday (September 13).

This year, the theme raised in Silaknas is “The Synergy of Building Economic Independence in Progress”. Indra assessed this theme is very important. “Because food, manufacturing, everything depends on the other side. Very few of us can exist,” he said.

In his opinion, in order to creating independence of economic, the role of UMKM (micro, small, and medium enterprises) become a part of big strategy. Therefore, Silaknas wil be encouraged coaching of UMKM by synergizing the merchants Muhammadi and all business actors. The system is business to business (B to B).

Indra said the number of UMKM in Muhammadiyah reaches around 40 thousand. “In Silaknas, large entrepreneurs will nurture the UMKM with B to B system. It means building a business network with a business approach,” he explained.
