REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Registrants of cleric Zakir Naik's public lecture at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) on April 3 exceeded daily quota. The quota was full in less than 30 minutes.
Event secretariat coordinator Tony K Haryadi said from the first day until fourth day, the committe received as much as 500-700 people only in 25 minutes. So the committee closed the enrolment before 3:00 pm. "Because quota has exceed maximum daily quota, we could not open the registration any further. However, regitration system will open until March 30,2017," Tony said on Friday (March 24th).
Next, Tony said, list of attendees in system will be verified by committee with considered some factors such as completness of registration form, conformity file that has been uploaded and including motivation of candidates. "If they only wanted to see or listen Zakir Naik, that would not be considered as strong motivation," Tony said in press release.
Committee also considered distribution of sex, origin, and background of candidates of participants to get fair representatives that will attend at public lecture of Dr Zakir Naik at UMY.
Tony said public lecture of Zakir Naik at UMY was academic event that will be held indoor at UMY sportium that has limited capacity and can't accommodate too much participants. "The capacity of Sportium about 6,000 people with considered comfort and safety of participant also smooth operation of event.
Dr Zakir Naik will hold public lecture with theme 'Religion As An Agent of Mercy and Peace' on April 3,2017. Zakir will attend public lecture about 4.5 hour from 08:00 am to 00:30 pm.
