REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -- A religious blasphemy case was found in Sukabumi, West Java. The local Indonesian Council of Ulama had receive a report from a citizen that an Alquran has been being tainted with insulting sentences and drawings. The institution had gave it to the police. 

The Quran was covered by a black plastic wrap and found by a citizen named Edah Wahyuni (50) in a small street, on Thursday (9/2) at about 11.00 am.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Sr. Yusri Yunus, said the witness reported her finding to the board of the nearest mosque. They made a report to the Sukabumi Branch of Indonesian Council of Ulama. After having some reviews, the council made a report to the Sukabumi Police.  "A team from Sukabumi Police were still working on the case," said him to reporters on Tuesday (Feb 14).

Meanwhile, the secretary of Sukabumi Branch of Indonesian Council of Ulama, Muhammad Kusoy, said  there was a paper with insulting sentences written on it sticked to the page of Asmaul Husna. It said, "satanic verses, sowing hatred, filled with terror (two words in the sentence were faded by water) stupid, source of contention division, disintegration. The adherents and defenders are not worth living in the beloved archipelago."

There was also a drawing of a pair of foot facing opposite directions on the next page. In the top of the drawing, the perpetrator wrote "satanic verses, duping". "The finding became a discussion in Sukabumi branch of Indonesian Council of Ulama on Monday (Feb 13) at about 13.00 pm. The Quran were given to the Sukabumi Police. We hope the police investigate it," he said.
