REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – PT Republika Media Mandiri (RMM) launched a new site namely ihram.co.id at the Great Mosque at-Tin, Jakarta, on Saturday (December 31, 2016). The site presents many contents related to the pilgrimage and Hajj as well as the traces of Islamic heritage which become tourism destination around the world.

The launching was attended by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin. It was held in conjunction with the Dzikir Nasional Republika 2016, an annualy national dhikir program held by Republika. On the occasion, the Minister also had an honor to launch of the site.

According to the Chief Editor of Republika, Irfan Junaidi, ihram.co.id would contain a variety of information about the event of Hajj and the pilgrimage. It would also informed the readers with information about Islamic tourism.

The content about Islamic tourism would be related on the traces of the journey of Islamic civilization. It was considered as a very important issue to be conveyed to the public. “History has proven that Islamic civilization had a major contribution to the development of human life,” Irfan said.

The site would still be a part of the Republika.co.id. It contains Islamic studies and stories, as well as historical narratives about unique sites in the Holy Land and its surroundings. "We used the domain 'co.id' to assert Indonesian identity. Therefore, it means the domain belongs to Indonesia, and not the '.com'," said Irfan.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs appreciates the presence of ihram.co.id. He hoped that the site would provide accurate information which able to widen the reader’s knowledge.
