REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The scholarship for 5,000 doctoral degree program of Islamic Religious Universities (PTKI) was targeted to complete in 2024. The program aimed to improve the quality of education in Indonesia.
Directorate of Islamic Higher Education, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Professor Doctor Amsal Bahtiar said, the program run every year and many lecturers and educators registered the program. He hoped, there will be more doctors in Indonesia and increase the quality of lecturers. "Of course, 5,000 doctoral program can improve the lecturers quality," Amsal said to Republika.co.id Monday (10/10).
He explained that with the increasing number of doctors in Indonesia and good impact in education world would influence the accreditation of study programs and institutions. He added 5,000 the program targeted completed in 2024 or 2025.
According to Amsal, every year at least 600 to 700 participants entered
5,000 doctoral program. "However the government or the limited state budget funds is hindering the completion the doctoral program target," he said.
Head of Directorate of Islamic Higher Education, Drs Imam Safe'i said, registrants in 5,000 doctoral programs are excessive. Although quotas for domestic participants were 750 people, this year the realization only up to 527 people due to limited budget. However the number has increased compare to last year a total of 452 people.
