REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Presidential Palace finally commented related to the fatwa of Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), which declared the Social Security Agency (BPJS) in Indonesia was not accordance to sharia. Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto said, President Joko Widodo has asked the Health Ministry and head of BPJS to conduct dialogue with MUI to straighten out the fatwa.

"The president ordered the two officers to immediately conduct dialogue," he said at the Presidential Office, on Friday, July 31.

According to him, Health Minister Nila Moeloek and Director of BPJS Health Idris had a meeting. However, the dialogue with MUI could be held next week.

"It will do further dialogue next week after completion of NU and Muhammadiyah congress. We are still waiting for the dialogue, after the Health Minister and the head of BPJS will report it to the President," said Andi.

The results of this dialogue will subsequently be used as an assessment by the government if there was something, which, according to MUI, needs to be changed from the system of BPJS. Thus, the government hoped BPJS could still run in Indonesia.
