Dompet Dhuafa to open a branch in US

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian charity foundation, Dompet Dhuafa (DD), will open a branch in New York, US. The branch, will built either in Manhattan or Queens, aims to support building mosque and Islamic center in the New York City. 

The Director of Communication and Resources of DD, Arifin Purwakananta, said DD had selected several places. "The choices are available building because the price of property today is falling," he said last week.

DD will raise the fund from all branches in the world For preaching program in US. DD expects to gather 20 billion IDR as a start.

The Islamic Center to be built in New York will be integrated with mosque, class room, new convert center, and public service. DD will also offer scholarship and international preacher programs.

"The point is that DD want to spread alms movement all over the world," he said. Currently DD has branches in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and US. DD also invites all Muslim in the world to support dakwah in US.
