Two defendants of Pulomas killings get death penalty

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA  -- The East Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (October 17)  has decided to sentence death penalty against two defendants in the robbery and murder case that killed six victims at Dodi Triono's house, Pulomas, East Jakarta.

Head of the panel of judges Gde Aryawan said Ridwan Sitorus alias Yus Pane and Erwin Situmorang alias Ucok are proved legally and convincingly guilty of committing the criminal act of premeditated murder.

Meanwhile, another defendant, Alvin Sinaga, got a life sentece. Sinaga served as the driver when the flock of robbers was in action. 

The defendants' attorney, Amudi Sidabutar, expressed objection to the verdict. Therefore, he planned to appeal the verdict.

The defendants led by Ramlan Butar Butar robbed a house belonged to businessman Dodi Triono in Pulomas, Pulogadung, East Jakarta on December 26, 2016.

They tortured and held 11 victims in a no ventilation toilet measuring 1.5 meters x 1.5 meters. As many as six people died because of running out of air, while five others survived.

On Joint team of Metro Jaya Police, East Jakarta Metro Police and Depok City Police arrested the Sitorus, Situmorang and Sinaga. Police shot dead Butar Butar during a raid in Bekasi, West Java as he tried to escape.
