Quraish Shihab says LGBT not allowed in Islam

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Quraish Shihab form Pusat Studi Alquran said marriage or sex with same sex is not allowed in Islam.

Quraish said the Prophet Muhammad once said that marriage with the opposite sex is his sunnah. Whoever is unwilling to follow the way of life, continued Quraish, and then they are not the follower of Muhammad.

"And, the lifestyle of the Prophet was married to a woman (the opposite sex)," he said when speaking in a ceremony Islamic Book Fair (IBF) with the headline "Protect your Family from Danger of Radicalism and LGBT Through Understanding the Qur'an good and right" on Thursday (3 / 3).

Sunnah of the Prophet, said Quraish, in accordance with the trend and human nature are attracted to the opposite sex. "In fact, when associated with the animals, they were reluctant to same sex relation," he said.

Relating to human rights that are often voiced a people to defend LGBT, Quraish said, that argumentation can not be take for granted. "Are you going to justify the behaviors (of LGBT) that destroy humanity," he said.

Therefore, he said, to marry or have sex with same-sex have overthrown the essence of humanity. And, the God punishment will come to those who deny its nature.

Nevertheless, Quraish ask the people not to act anarchistic against LGBT practitioner. Because, according to him, they are people who are infected by disease and need help and treatment from the people.
