REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WASHINGTON DC -- Donald Trump packed a lot of promises in his 16-minute inaugural address. From stopping radical Islamic terrorism to exploring the mysteries of space, here are all the things the new President promised to do in his speech:
Stop the 'American carnage'
The speech began on a darker note, as President Trump spoke of an America where politicians prospered, jobs disappeared and factories rusted-out.
Law and order was a central theme of President Trump's election campaign, and he wasted no time reminding Americans how he would tackle the issue.
"The crime and the gangs and the drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealised potential. This American carnage stops right here and stops right now."
Bring back lots of things
"We will bring back our jobs, we will bring back our borders, we will bring back our wealth, and we will bring back our dream."

Make everything 'America first'
During the transition, President Trump made a habit of calling out companies that sent jobs out of America, and praised those who announced they would keep jobs within US borders.
In his inaugural address, the new President said a "new vision" would now govern America.
Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families. We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies and destroying our jobs."
Build a whole lot of infrastructure
States hit the hardest in the global financial crisis were where President Trump found his core base of supporters.
As the ABC's Washington bureau chief Zoe Daniel reported last year, a billionaire businessman promising to bring back jobs and factories was an attractive proposition to many voters. President Trump made sure to remind everyone of that promise.
"We will build new roads and highways and bridges and airports and tunnels and railways all across our wonderful nation. We will get our people off welfare and back to work, rebuilding our country with American hands and American labour."
Make new friends and end terrorism
People have already got an idea of who the new President might be making friends with after he suggested he would ease sanctions on Russia imposed by the Obama administration.
Things are a little less clear when it comes to China. President Trump withheld support for the "one-China" policy during the transition process, prompting China's foreign ministry to urge him to recognise the sensitivity of the issue.
"We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and unite the civilised world against radical Islamic terrorism which we will eradicate completely from the face of the Earth."

Say so long to disease and hello to space
"We stand at the birth of a little millennium ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the Earth from the miseries of disease, and to harness the energies, industries and technologies of tomorrow."
Make America lots of things … including great again
You didn't think President Trump was going to make it through his address without delivering his famous campaign slogan, did you?
He took plenty of time winding up to it, but President Trump's supporters in the crowd loved hearing the line to close out the speech.
"Together we will make America strong again, we will make America wealthy again, we will make America proud again, we will make America safe again and, yes, together, we will make America great again. Thank you! God bless you! And God bless America!"
