REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Embassy in Brussels introduced the "Wonderful Indonesia" program to promote the country's tourism among media partners and travel agents in Belgium, the embassy's spokesperson noted in a press release received in Jakarta, Thursday.

The embassy is inviting several Belgian media partners and tour operators to Indonesia to visit the nation's natural wonders.

Some eight Belgian journalists, bloggers, and travel agents will visit well-known tourist attractions, including Jogjakarta, Labuan Bajo, and Bali.

The group, accompanied by representatives from the embassy, will embark on a 16-hour flight to Jakarta later today.

Apart from being a leisure trip, the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels also said the visit was being organized to further promote Indonesia's tourism attractions to the people of Belgium.

The group comprises a journalist from the French print media Sudpress dan Le Soir, a reporter from the French television broadcaster RTBF, two bloggers from Mel Loves Travel and Au Gout d'Emma, as well as two Belgian travel agents Thomas Cook and Discovery Expedition, and most of them have never visited Indonesia.

"They are very eager to visit Indonesia and gain a first-hand experience of the country. The Belgian media often portrays Indonesia as an archipelagic country with various cultures," the spokesperson remarked in the press release.

As a vast archipelagic country, Indonesia has a lot to offer in terms of its natural and historical legacy as well as its cultural diversity.

The tourism sector is a key contributor to Indonesia's economy as it is a significant source of revenue.
