REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- Indonesian Ambassador to Russia and Belarus Djauhari Oratmangun has received an award "Sovyet Federatsii. 20 Let" for his service in enhancing cooperation between the two countries' parliaments.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Ilya Umakhanov conferred the award on the Indonesian ambassador at the council's office in Moscow on Friday, the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow said in a statement released on Sunday.

Umakhanov said cooperation between the Russian Federation Council and the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) may be regarded as a concrete example of effective cooperation between the two countries.

He noted that mutual visits of the two parliaments' officials have run smoothly at the highest level. "The parliaments also play an important role in forging relations between the two countries," he said.

The two officials held talks about relations between the two countries before the conferment ceremony.

Ambassador Oratmangun who will soon end his term of office said a farewell to Umakhanov at the meeting.

He said relations between the two parliaments have run well particularly thanks to good ties between Chairman of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD) Irman Gusman and Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

At the 45-minute meeting, the two officials also discussed preparations for ASEAN-Russian Summit to be held in Sochi in May 2016.
